Product Description
The XY + Virtual Tilt manipulator combines an MC-series XY translator with a tilt stage that pivots about a point well away from the manipulator, typically at the sample. Because the pivot is at the sample, the sample tilts in place (eucentric tilt) instead of swinging sideways, so the XY position is kept as the angle changes.
It can be built on any standard MC-series size, from the compact MC1000 with 2.75″ (DN40CF) flanges to the MC6000 with 14″ (DN295CF) flanges, with the same XY travel and circular pattern as the matching MC translator. XY and tilt are offered in both manual and stepper motorized versions.
The unit shown is built on the MC2000, with 6″ (CF100) flanges, ±0.5″ (±13 mm) XY travel and ±4° of single-axis virtual tilt about a pivot 16″ (406 mm) from the top flange. Both flanges are tapped. Tilt range and pivot distance are set to suit the application, and two-axis, multi-center and off-angle configurations are also available.
To make your selection, add the total travel required in the X or Y axis to the maximum diameter of the device passing through the manipulator. This sum determines the minimum bellows inside diameter (ID) and so the MC size. Then give us the pivot distance from the top flange, the tilt range and the configuration you need.
