A single-sided alumina plate in the Omicron flag outline, used as a carrier for small devices. Wire-bond on the bench, then load the plate into a flag receptor for UHV analysis. The edge pads are the contacts, so the flag does not need a separate in-vacuum connector or a wired pigtail.
The standard 15-contact version brings out fifteen gold pads to a single row of edge fingers on the contact end of the flag. Pads are finished for gold wire bonding and at a standard 0.1 mm pitch. Pad 1 is labeled, and pads 5, 8, and 11 are extended .25 mm for ease of reference during wire bonding.
The plate is 96% alumina, 1 mm thick. It transfers with a standard Omicron-style flag gripper and seats in an Omicron-compatible receptor.
Alumina is UHV-clean and bakeable well above a normal chamber bake. Continuous temperature in use is set by the mating contacts on the receptor, not by the ceramic. Aluminum nitride is available if the device is actually dissipating power.
Options
- Contacts: 15 (standard). Other counts on request.
- Pad Finish: wire-bondable gold.
- Material: 96% alumina. Aluminum nitride on request.
- Outline: Omicron flag. Other flag and platen outlines on request.
- Mating receptor: single-sided contact row on the flag receptor. Compatible with standard metallic omicron flags for interoperability.
