Conductive LN₂ or LHe cooling for UHV samples, stages and reference points
An MTS coldfinger is a conductive stem that carries heat from a sample, a stage or a reference point out through the vacuum wall to a cryogen. It is the cooling element behind our cooled sample stages and manipulators, and it is also built as a stand-alone part to fit customer chambers.
The standard configuration uses open-cycle liquid nitrogen (LN₂) for cooling to below 100K (-173°C). Coldfingers and inserts for helium dewars are compatible with liquid helium (LHe). A copper heat-transfer bar or flexible copper braids couple the coldfinger to the sample.
Coldfingers are integrated into the BiAxial Multi-Therm, the Omicron Style Heating and Cooling stage and the Omicron Style Sample Stage–Cooled.
- Cryogen: LN₂ (open cycle) standard; compatible with liquid helium (LHe)
- Temperature: below 100K (-173°C) with LN₂
- Thermal link: copper bar or flexible copper braids to the sample
- Mounting: ConFlat flange, length and flange size to suit your chamber
Options
- Cryogen: LN₂, or LHe with an insert for helium dewars
- Length and CF flange size to suit your chamber
- Rigid copper bar or flexible copper braids to the sample
- Thermocouple type and placement
- Combined heating, as on the Omicron Style Heating and Cooling stage
