A 1 kW infrared heater for use inside a vacuum system. This is the IR-1000 heater, in the same family as the IR-2000 heater. MTS internal IR heaters are small quartz lamps on ConFlat flanges. They were developed to replace bakeout ovens and heater tapes. Because the lamp radiates inside the chamber, the heat goes into the hardware instead of into an oven, and base pressure comes down in less time.

Do not touch the quartz with bare fingers. A fingerprint causes early failure, weak heating, and extra outgassing.
