- The only
V-12 engine Maserati ever made, a Prototype
Formula One 250F with 3.0 liter displacement, 4 overhead cams,
10.5:1 compression, 6 dual-throat Weber carbuerators, 2 sparkplugs
per cylinder, dual distributors (with 24 coils and 24 sets of points!),
dual oil and dual water pumps. The aluminum engine block is wet-sleeved
and the seal between the heads and the sleeves is via the torque on
the head bolts only. The crankshaft turned a series
of 23 gears that, in turn, runs all 4 cams, the fuel, water and oil
pumps, and also turns the distributors. The 12 cylinder engine block
can easily be lifted with one hand.

Fun with words
The Duel
A duel was fought between Alexander
Shott and John Nott. Nott was shot
and Shott was not. In this case it is
better to be Shott than Nott. Some
said that Nott was not shot. But Shott
says that he shot Nott. It may be that
the shot Shott shot, shot Nott, or it
may be possible that the shot Shott
shot, shot Shott, himself. We think,
however, that the shot Shott shot,
shot not Shott, but Nott. Anyway, it is
hard to tell which was shot and which
was not.
