Gizmos and Other Widgets

Many times we make things that are of sufficiently limited appeal that it is not worthwhile to make catalog pages. We present some of those "weird and wonderful" gizmos here. A cryo insert with baffles is shown with access tubes for instrumentation wires. In use, a small chamber, not shown, is attached to the far flange. The sample is mounted within this chamber and the whole assembly is lowered into a liquid helium dewar. The baffles and all the tubes are extra-thin wall to minimize boil-off of the helium. Overall length is approximately 46".

This differentially-pumped quick door is really handy for quick access to large systems where the base pressure is lower than 10 -7 torr and the chamber must be opened frequently. The differential seal allows pressures in the 10 -10 torr range. It is also available with an integral viewport or electrical feedthroughs.

This cozy cluster of conflats crams conspicuous capacity in convenient co-ordinates at a conservative cost.

The McMulti 2takes a good idea a step further. Now the user can mount larger items, such as bellows-sealed rotary motion or large dewars on the top flange of manipulators while keeping the electrical feedthroughs handy and secure. The McMulti2 is available in larger sizes as well.
