Technical Services' (MTS) Bellows Sealed Linear Translator (BLT)
is the finest of its kind available anywhere. We recognize and appreciate
the confidence our customers have placed in our company and we work hard
to earn it.
All three models with 2¾" (70 mm) conflats shown below have characteristics in common, as well as unique features for special applications. Most important is that all three use the same size bellows, have the same compressed height/stroke combinations and cost nearly the same. Following the photo links on this page are detailed photographs, dimensioned drawings and price lists of each of the three 2¾" translator styles as well as the larger size translators. Simply pick the ones that best suit your needs. All BLT lead screws use ball bearings. The screws and bearings are lubricated with MoS2 for low friction and long life. All parts are field replaceable, including the bellows. All of our translators are also available with extra-long strokes, motor drives, linear encoders, tapped flanges and special heights.

BLT27S Larger photo, drawing and prices The newest member of the translator family, the BLT27S has the cantilever brackets bolted to the side of the 2¾" (70 mm) flange. The advantage here is that the cantilever brackets leave 75% of the circumference of the flange unobstructed. The bottom (or fixed) flange of the BLT27S is available with an optional 12-hole pattern. Since the actuator cannot be repositioned relative to the bolt holes, this feature allows the user more flexibility in mounting orientation. |
|
BLT27C Larger photo, drawing and prices The BLT27C has cantilevered flange supports with wrap-around flange brackets. A total of six set screws (three for each flange) hold the 2¾" (70 mm) flanges within the brackets. The advantage of this design is that the set screws can be loosened, even while the translator is installed, and the actuator portion of the translator can be repositioned radially around the flange, thus allowing the BLT to clear ion guns or other equipment. Another feature of this translator is that the guide rods and actuation screw are set back from the flange to give maximum clearance. |
|
BLT026
Larger photo, drawing and prices The BLT026 utilizes the same set screw arrangement on the 2¾" (70 mm) flanges as above. This allows the user to position the three jacking screws relative to the flange hole pattern to any position desired. Due to the three-screw pattern, the BLT026 provides the maximum rigidity of any translator on the market and is capable of holding axial loads in excess of 150 pounds with no deflection problems. |
|
BLT4500 Larger photo, drawing and
prices The BLT4500 utilizes the same 3-screw drive arrangement as on the BLT026, above except it has 4½" (114 mm) flanges. Due to this three-point support, the BLT4500 provides the maximum rigidity of any translator of its size on the market and is capable of holding axial loads in excess of 400 pounds with no deflection problems. It is available with either tapped or non-tapped flanges and strokes (travel) range from 2 to more than 8 inches. |
|
BLT45S
Larger picture, drawing and prices The BLT45S is a larger cousin to the BLT27S, above. It also has the cantilever brackets bolted to the side of the flange. This leaves ~75% of the circumference of the flange unobstructed. The bottom (or fixed) flange of the BLT45S is available with an optional 16-hole pattern. Since the actuator cannot be repositioned relative to the bolt holes, this feature allows the user more flexibility in mounting orientation. It is available with either tapped or non-tapped flanges and strokes (travel) range from 2 to more than 24 inches. |
|
BLT6300 Larger photo, drawing and prices The BLT6300 utilizes the same 3-screw drive arrangement as on the BLT026, above except it has 6" (150 mm) flanges. Due to this three-point support, the BLT6300 provides the maximum rigidity of any translator of its size on the market and is capable of holding axial loads in excess of 400 pounds with no deflection problems. It is available with either tapped or non-tapped flanges and strokes (travel) range from 2 to more than 10 inches. Contact MTS for more information on strokes and sizes not showm. |
|
BLT8600
Larger photo, drawing and Prices The BLT8600 utilizes the same 3-screw drive arrangement as on the BLT026 and the BLT6300, above except it has 8" (203 mm) flanges and 3 guide rods, for extra rigidity. Due to this three-point support, the BLT8600 provides the maximum rigidity of any translator of its size on the market and is capable of holding axial loads in excess of 800 pounds with no deflection problems. |
|
ZA4512
Larger photo, drawing and prices The ZA series of translators comes in a wide range of flange sizes and strokes. It can be used alone or in combination with an MC2000 XY platform to form a long-stroke XYZ manipulator.

All
the BLTs use ball bearings on the lead screws.
The screws and bearings are dry lubricated with baked-on MoS2
for low friction and long life. All parts are field replaceable. All of
the translators are also available with long strokes, motor drives, linear
encoders, tapped flanges and special heights.
In addition to our broad line of standard scientific products, we at McAllister Technical Services know that the customer needs choices and options to fulfill the ever-changing demands of the scientific community.
